Chairperson: Geoff Hood

Geoff is the Manager of EDI Rail in Port Augusta. He is a Board Member and current Chairperson of Global Maintenance USG. Other positions that Geoff holds includes Board Member of Northern Regional Development and Board Member of Mineral Resources and Heavy Engineering Skills Board. Geoff holds Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (University of South Australia) Masters in Business Administration (University of South Australia).

Stephen Richter: SJ Cheesman

Stephen is the Managing Director of S.J. Cheesman which commenced as a Blacksmith Shop in 1908 and celebrates its centenary this year. SJ Cheesman currently employs 65 people and provides metal trades services to a wide range of industries including the various demands of the large mining and the associated smelting industries of Australia and services to the general public. Stephen is also a member of the committee of management for the Engineering Employers Association of South Australia (EEASA) which aims to represent and promote the interests of companies in the metal and engineering manufacturing sector in South Australia.

Greg Clothier: Action Engineering

Greg is the Managing Director of Action Engineering which is a hydraulics and pneumatics company based out of Whyalla. Greg has had extensive experience in developing this business into the multi million dollar operations it is today. Greg is also is the Chair of the Australian Technical College – Spencer Gulf and Outback which ensures high school students can gain experience and knowledge in the heavy engineering sector while completing school qualifications.

Mark Kuhn: Max Cranes

Mark is the owner of Max Cranes based out of Port Augusta. This business has developed from a small operation that employed 5 people to a business that has over 35 people employed and has attracted contracts from around the State particularly in the mining and mineral resources sector. Mark has extensive business development experience and is certainly an asset to the Global Maintenance Board.

Steven Arndt: USGCPG

Steven was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer in November 2005 having previously held the positions of Economic Development Officer and Project/Finance Manager since 2001. In his roles Steven has worked across industry sectors including heavy engineering, aquaculture and education and skills development, infrastructure, supply-chain efficiencies and general growth strategies.

Qualifications
Steven holds a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy and a Masters in Administration.

Janet Sawyer: Uni SA - Whyalla Campus

Janet is currently head of Business and Regional Enterprise at the University of South Australia, Whyalla Campus and takes particular interest in the accounting stream.  Janet holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from University of Adelaide, Masters of Educational Studies, Graduate Diploma in Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts. Janet is on the board of the Whyalla Hospital, and an active member of the Global Maintenance board.

Jack Velthuizen: TAFE SA Regional

Jack is the Senior Program Manager for Manufacturing, Engineering and Transport (MET) Program for TAFE SA Regional, who did his trade in Metal Fabrication (Boiler maker). He is a Member of the State MET Senior Leadership Group and an elected member of the Whyalla City Council. Jack holds a Masters in Educational Studies, Bachelor in Education, Diploma of Teaching, Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Technician Certificate) and an Advanced Certificate in Metal Fabrication including Certification in AS1796.

Dino Gadaleta: DEAMS

Dino owns his own business in DEAMS that addresses skilled migration issues in the region and looks to attract migrants from the Philippines. Dino holds a Bachelor of Arts from Adelaide University and is currently studying Graduate Certificate in Skilled Migration. Dino has also been an active member of the Port Pirie Council for a number of years.

David McPherson: Nyrstar Port Pirie

David is the Acid & Services Maintenance Superintendent at Nyrstar Port Pirie, which commenced operations as BHAS in 1889; the smelter will celebrate 120 years of operations in June 2009. Nyrstar is a Belgian publicly listed company created in August 2007 by combining the Zinc smelting and alloying operations of Zinifex and Umicore, it employs approx 4,000 people across four continents. It is the world´s largest Zinc metal producer and one of the world´s largest producers of primary lead.

The Port Pirie arm of the business is an integrated multi-metals smelter and refinery, producing refined lead and lead alloys, Zinc, Silver and numerous by-products including Copper, Gold and Sulphuric Acid. It has a workforce of approx 670 employees and 110 full-time contractors. David has spent the majority of his working life at the Smelter apart from a short stint at Roxby Downs in early 1980´s.

Jodie Harris: Administrative Officer

Jodie Harris
Administrative Officer

Jodie has been doing the administration and finance role with Global Maintenance (GMUSG) since 2004. Originally she was employed as the Export Officer for the Whyalla Economic Development Board´s Export Program and helped out GMUSG on a part time basis. The mining boom in the region has led to a greater need for the services of Global Maintenance and growth in membership; this has meant that she is now employed directly by GMUSG. Jodie holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting (University of South Australia).
